Head of Youth Engagement

The Nigerian Schools Foundation (UK), also known as NSF (UK), is a not-for-profit organisation. We are volunteer led and commit to giving back to the Nigerian diaspora community in the UK and the education sector in Nigeria.

Role Purpose

​

The Head of Youth Engagement will report to the Chief Operating Officer, and be responsible for planning, delivering and supporting youth programmes and initiatives.

​

The role will facilitate and co-ordinate access to educational and career programmes, scholarships, internships, career advice, jobs and mentoring opportunities for member schools, their friends and family.

​

Signpost and facilitate entries in educational competitions internationally and in Nigeria. NSF (UK) will be working with Lagos State Government on the introduction of international competitions within state run school.

The role holder is expected to drive this initiative.

Our head of youth engagement will:

  • Provide guidance and best practice on youth engagement and recommend resources to member schools.

  • Develop youth engagement initiatives and plan activities or programmes with young adults to allow for effective youth participation. Create creative and enabling environments to facilitate dialogue and keen interactions amongst young people.

  • Access educational resources, and career opportunities for youths of member schools in the UK and in Nigeria.

  • Lobby organisations for career placements or shadowing opportunities.

  • Promote available internships, scholarships, educational competitions and job opportunities advertised by other organisations.

  • Work with educational organisations, and in partnership with member schools to contribute resources, teaching, and knowledge share with selected youth groups.

  • Encourage active youth participation and attendance at various career fetes/seminars, and actively seek career opportunities that would be of benefit to the youths of member schools.

  • Set up a youth advisory groups, where youths set the agenda, become empowered advocates who own their ideas and have the tools to inspire the next generation of young people.

  • Collaborate with other youth focussed organisations in the UK, internationally and in Nigeria, to share youth engagement best practise, initiatives, resources and learning.

  • Co-opt volunteers with the expertise to help drive the youth engagement initiatives. Be committed to the NSF (UK) Values.
